Since we were a little unsure how the weather would be on our Branson vacation, we wanted to plan a variety of indoor and outdoor activities.
For one of our indoor days, we chose The Butterfly Palace and Rainforest Adventure and we are so happy we did! We spent several hours there, enjoying the butterflies and the rest of the activities.
Each pass to The Butterfly Palace includes multiple activities--the Banyan Tree Bungee Adventure, the Emerald Forest Mirror Maze, the Living Rainforest Science Center, a theater featuring butterfly documentaries, and of course, the Butterfly Aviary itself.
Both kids enjoyed the Mirror Maze, running through it multiple times and trying the different routes. The Banyan Adventure was also much fun, as the challenge was to weave through a "forest" of bungee cords without falling. We loved visiting the rainforest creatures, and trying to find the different varieties of chameleons, lizards, and frogs playing hide and seek in their habitat.
But the highlight was definitely the butterflies. Once you walk into the aviary (through several doors for the safety of the butterflies, you are surrounded by a number of different varieties. Nectar tubes are available to assist the visitor with drawing the butterflies to them and we were thrilled how many came to visit us. We spent well over an hour simply hanging out with the butterflies to see what we could find and loved the entire experience.
We were there in time for a butterfly release and the staff was wonderful in accommodating all of Ben's questions, as well as helping him release several butterflies. One of the Paper Kite Butterflies he released landed on his shoulder and, we think, adopted him as its mama. I was even able to get several videos of him and his new friend.
